Abstract
The Artificial Intelligence Secure Financial Supply Chain System (AI-SFSS) is a web-based financial fraud, supply chain opacity, counterfeit goods circulation, and poor financial inclusion that continue to undermine institutional integrity and economic development in Malawi and across Sub-Saharan Africa. The system serves as a unified digital bridge between financial management and supply chain operations for governments, NGOs, SMEs, and agricultural organizations, integrating Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Blockchain-inspired technology into a single cohesive and browser-accessible platform. The system is built on a modern full-stack architecture comprising a React 19 and TypeScript frontend with TanStack Router, a Supabase backend-as-a-service layer providing PostgreSQL database, authentication, and real-time subscriptions, and Supabase Edge Functions for serverless AI and ML processing. The system features ten core modules: Authentication and Role-Based Access Control, Financial Management and Invoices, AI-Powered Fraud Detection, Supply Chain Tracking and Inventory Management, Blockchain Integrity and Record Verification, Counterfeit Detection and QR Scanning, Predictive Analytics and Reporting, Notifications and Alerts, User Management and Administration, and External Integrations. The AI fraud detection module employs machine learning algorithms to analyse financial transaction patterns and flag suspicious activities in real time, while the blockchain integrity layer uses SHA-256 cryptographic hashing to create an immutable and tamper-proof record of all transactions and supply chain events. Row-Level Security policies enforced through Supabase ensure that all data access is strictly governed by user role at the database level. The system was developed using an Agile methodology, with iterative development cycles enabling continuous refinement based on testing and feedback. Functional and non-functional testing was conducted to validate system performance, security, usability, and accuracy of AI components. The results demonstrate that AI-SFSS successfully bridges the gap between financial accountability and supply chain integrity, providing a practical, affordable, and context-sensitive solution for organizations operating in resource-constrained environments across Malawi and Africa.
