Abstract

This study focus on school feeding program as a researcher I focused on the main aim at evaluating the influence of Mount Meru school feeding program on enrollment and attendance of standard one learners at Chivala Primary School and the study took place in Dowa Malawi. This study brings to light the influence of Mont Meru school feeding program on enrollment and attendance of standard one learners at Chivala primary school. This study used a research method of both qualitative and quantitative. The data was collected by using interview and questionnaire. The target population was parents/guardians and teachers. The research design that was used is descriptive method and simple random technique. Quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS and qualitativedata used content analysis and was conducted manually to identifyand develop themes were coded and identified and SPSS was used to summarize the coded data and analyze them. The study therefore found out that despite having the school feeding program the attendance rate of standard one learners is still low. Parents and teachers are told to encourage the students to attend classes.The study further highlights the need for enhanced community sensitization, parental involvement, and consistent monitoring of the program to improve learner participation. Strengthening collaboration between schools, parents, and program implementers is recommended to maximize the effectiveness of school feeding initiatives.In addition, the study recommends periodic evaluation of the program, adequate food supply, and policy support from stakeholders to ensure sustainability and improved educational outcomes among Standard One learners at chivala primaryschool.
