Abstract
Smallholder farmers in developing economies continue to face significant barriers in accessing profitable markets, including information asymmetry, dependence on intermediaries, post-harvest losses, and limited bargaining power. This paper presents AgriMarket Link, a centralized digital platform designed to enhance market access and strengthen agricultural value chain linkages for smallholder farmers. The proposed system integrates real-time market information services, direct farmer-to-buyer matching, logistics coordination, and mobile-based transaction support into a unified intelligent marketplace architecture.
The platform employs a hybrid architecture combining a mobile-first farmer interface with a centralized analytics and matching engine. It leverages geolocation services, price prediction models, and automated quality grading workflows to reduce transaction costs and improve price transparency. Host-level monitoring agents are not required; instead, lightweight mobile agents collect production, inventory, and demand data that are aggregated at a central server for intelligent matching and advisory generation.
Evaluation in a simulated multi-region agricultural environment demonstrates that AgriMarket Link achieves high matching success rates, substantial reductions in intermediary dependence, and measurable improvements in farmer realized prices. The system also incorporates adaptive learning components that refine price forecasts and demand predictions based on historical transaction data. Performance results indicate strong scalability and low operational overhead, making the platform suitable for deployment across both rural and peri-urban farming communities. Furthermore, the system enhances traceability and post-harvest management by maintaining detailed transaction logs that support quality assurance, dispute resolution, and compliance with market standards. By combining intelligent data analysis with centralized market coordination, AgriMarket Link addresses key limitations of traditional agricultural marketing systems and fragmented digital tools. In conclusion, this research contributes a robust and adaptive digital marketplace framework that strengthens smallholder market participation, improves income outcomes, and provides a proactive pathway toward inclusive agricultural transformation.
